Labels allow us to
explore our identity while defining the stage of life we might find ourselves
experiencing. Throughout my lifetime, I have been fortunate to carry several
labels; daughter of a teenage mother, sister, first-generation immigrant,
first-generation college student, employee, award-winning aunt, loved,
unwanted, Christian, atheist, vegetarian, meat lover, dog mother, and many
others. The stories I carry within me bring with them labels that add variety
(diversity) to my home, community, and the world we share. This blog is a
celebration of those stories: a guide for diversity and inclusion
practitioners, supporters, and skeptics.
